This is definately a computer you can carry, but its hard to catagorise. The RedFly is a "companion" product for your SmartPhone. It uses your phones CPU and OS (via USB or BlueTooth) but provides a bigger screen and keyboard as well as USB / VGA ports. It also recharges your phone from it's 8 hour battery. One of the Berble iPhone's got the 1.1.3 update last night, here are a few first impressions. The update itself went smoothly, I did need to try several times before the servers could be reached but as I was trying just after the keynote announcement finished I will let them off. Updating the phone didn't result in any loss of data for me, nothing needed to be re synced to the phone afterwards. First up, the customisable home screen, this feature is implemented nicely, hold your finger on any home screen icon for a few seconds and all of the icons start to jiggle. Once they are jiggling away then you can move them around to your hearts content, changing the order on the first screen but also allowing for a second (or multiple) home screens by moving the icon to the very edge of the screen.Once everything is where you want it you press the home key to lock everything back into place, the additional home screens are then accessed with a left or right swipe. |

Lets face it, the iPhone was never going to be known for it's phenomenal battery life. Not that I am saying it is particularly bad but with all the toys on board, the huge bright screen and wifi the main culprits, you never leave it alone long enough to get a huge standby time. Soon after getting the iPhone I started looking out for accessories to enable charging on the go, here at Berble we are desperately wanting a combined holder/charger and FM transmitter but nothing has been released in the UK yet. In the meantime a power only solution will suffice and the GRIFFIN POWERJOLT seems to fit the bill nicely, with a couple of added benefits thrown in for good measure. |

German site Eee PC News has the first pictures of the unit with the new large screen. As you can see the black border around the current model is now filled with more liquid crystal, which is a good thing. What's not so good is the fact that the resolution of the bigger screen appears to be identical to the existing one. It seems this may not be the final screen though, so fingers crossed for more pixels in the finished article. |
